CASANOVA
The life journey of Giacomo Casanova, who became the symbol of an unflagging and passionate womanizer. A colorful composition of music, film and dance will let you take a glimpse into the destinies of this famous man, whose stormy life created a legend.
This globe-trotter was incredibly well educated for his time and he died, alone and unhappy, in the castle of Dux, where he wrote his memoirs used as an inspiration for this show.
The staging of Casanova by stage director Juraj Jakubisko is conceived as a myth about a legendary seducer, and comprises a strong metaphorical representation of love and of passion for life. A young boy, whose kiss with a fairy godmother changes into a man, searches for his fatal love Angelica in various women. His adventurous nature drives him into prison, to a monastery and even makes him commit murder, only to surprisingly discover the true object of his lust...
“One of the greatest qualities of the mise-en-scene is the excellent choreography by Jean-Pierre Aviotte, which abounds with unprecedented and new ideas, in particular in the solo duets.” (MF Dnes)
