BIT

1 bit represents a piece of information we receive in an answer to a yes/no question. A bit is mostly applied as a basic unit of memory capacity. The New Stage glass block facade can in a way be viewed as a type of bit field. This fact inspired the artistic group SPAM to create a new audiovisual project.

The project entitled Bit is a follow-up to an audiovisual composition Karel Gott Prager which was created last year. The group SPAM originally started as a platform of development within the experimental collective TOW. From 2004 to 2008 TOW created the pieces Nigth Moth, Turing Machine and Theory, all of these exploring the possibilities and limits of synchronization of laser, sound, motion and light. The founding members of SPAM are Vladimir 518 and David Vrbík who were, in 2008, joined by Ondřej Anděra.
