Piazzeta of National Theatre GPS: 50°4'52.343"N, 14°24'52.361"E, public space surrounded by buildings of New Stage and other administrative buildings of National Theatre, is a space at which various activities such as happenings, art installations, artistic and social interventions a various other cultural events. Call for partipants at the THEATRE WORKSHOP WITH VEIJO BALTZAR
A five-day (May 30 - June 3) theater workshop for young amateur Roma and non-Roma actors led by Roma writer and director Veijo Baltzar (FI) will result in public performance in the auditorium (June 3). Are you 16 and 30 years old, interested in acting and want to try something new, maybe this could be your workshop. Etiquette - listen, react, perform just for yourselves at the café table
Theatrical experience for two spectators at Café NONA (April 16 – 22). Two people sit across from each other at a café talking. Maybe they know each other, maybe this is the first time they meet. For half an hour, they become the performers in the celebrated theatre production by British theatre production Rotozaza. Etiquette has taken place in numerious places around the world and finally has its premiere in Prague. You, too, can be a part of it! Following the directions that you hear on your headphones, you will act out a story on the micro-stage of a coffee table. A simple coffeehouse chat turnes out to be a great life drama, played out inconspicuously in a public space... A fascinating experience showing how easily the viewer can be transformed into a performer... without anybody else noticing... more

Yes, the spring weather is becoming a more and more strong rival to our programme, but we will not give in: May is a month that brings you a super portion of contemporary dance and you must not miss it! The international ensemble 420PEOPLE is back with their successful piece Affordance that was premiered at the New Stage one year ago. The super-loaded month of May will close with Paco Décian and the Compagnie Post–Retroguardia. They are coming to Prague with a piece for seven dancers and video technology entitled Fresco, women looking left. The show is a highlight of this year’s edition of the festival KoresponDance Europe. more

Philippe Genty: Still travelers
The highlight of our February programme is clear: it is the hosting of a leading French dramatist Philippe Genty. This visual magician has earned reputation for his pieces balancing between visual theatre, dance, circus, and magic. In the piece he is bringing to New Stage a group of characters is setting out to wander around the world. They are shipwrecked in the middle of the sea, then they get to the desert, afterwards they fly up to the sky only to get stuck in the desert again. The piece is a poetic metaphor of the odyssey of mankind, as it proceeds in time and space, with all its obsessions, fights, skirmishes, shames, icons, dreads, fascinations and dreams. The unique piece is on the programme on one day only, February 27th. more

New Stage as a source of inspiration for a young artist Lucie Skřivánková who graduated at professor M. Rittstein´s seminar of painting at Prague AVU (Academy of Visual Arts) last year, has become the winner of a competition held by Prague 1 district for young artists under the age of 30. She has won with her piece of art entitled New Stage (acrylic on canvas, 2010). At present, Lucie Skřivánková is working on a short animated film "The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" which will be screened for public during the month of January 2011 at Podesta, the gallery space of the New Stage. Another cultural event will sequel the projection of the film, that of an installation of a series of photographs made by Lucie Skřivánková at Café NONA, that is, one floor above the Podesta space. The opening of Lucie Skřivánková´s screening and installation will take place on January 6th, at 8 pm, at Café NONA. Music will be provided by Poxxoxo DJs. more

The permanent guest of New Stage, the company 420PEOPLE, will present another part of their long-term concept Focused on Detail in January. Within the evening composed of chamber choreographies you will have the opportunity to see on stage not only the members of 420PEOPLE, Nataša Novotná and Václav Kuneš, but, above all, their honoured guests. Fashion Art Installation at the Nova Scena Foyer
Minty the experiential agency in Prague is now presenting up and coming Swedish designer Magda Marnell at the Nova Scena Foyer on 23rd November 2010. In this Fashion / Art Installation, Magda Marnell will introduce her Summer 2011 collection “Deconstructed”. The Installation walks you through her inspirations and will showcase her unique and avante-garde designs that embody a sense of her world and all that surrounds her. Each piece is personally hand crafted by Magda, unique and one of a kind. more

The end of the year, December 29 at 6.30pm, will see a special guided tour through New Stage building for English speaking visitors. Get to know the history and explore the décor of the building. Take a peek backstage; see the wig studio, the costume department, and lots of rooms you never even knew existed. How do they move the scenery around on the main stage and where do the actors change? The building housing New Stage is a controversial piece of architecture which dating back to the 80´s. Also, we are looking forward to taking you behind the scenes! The guided tour takes about an hour. more

Premieres - Novotná/Kuneš: on November 15 and 16
We warmly invite you to our November highlight – the premiere night of the company 420PEOPLE entitled PREMIERES - NOVOTNÁ/KUNEŠ. Václav Kuneš and Nataša Novotná will present two premiere shows, Reen and Sacrebleu. The former was created by Kuneš and is inspired by personal experience of how one plans and prepares coming back to a well known place and how, eventually, one really lives through it. Nataša Novotná´s Sacrebleu, then, is a surreal vision of a web of diverse powers that on the everyday humpy road strengthen those who walk alone. more

The National Theatre Ballet back at New Stage
In October you will see the National theatre´s ballet ensemble back at New Stage with two shows one of which is a premiere. One of the October highlights is the comeback of the piece extreme to New Stage: a dance triptych composed of choreographies made by Jiří kylián and petr Zuska, renowned Czech artists. the very title, extreme, suggests that the piece treats on extreme and contrastive life situations as well as it displays an extreme director/choreographer approach. On October 22 New Stage will see a premiere of a piece created by Dekka Dancers, a group lead by members of National theatre´s Ballet. They will present a show entitled The Persistance of Losers, a whole night performance composed of four choreographies created by young Czech choreographers. more

Phenomenal Dybbuk from Tel Aviv
At the end of October New Stage will host honoured guests from Israel: the internationally renowned ITIM ensemble with their piece Dybbuk. Created by the famous director Rina Yerushalmi, the piece deals with exorcising the devil of a young bride and is inspired by religious kabala visions and rituals. Ticket pre-sale started! more

The advanced ticket sale for September has been launched
Autumn, the same as any other period, at New Stage will se a diverse programme taking place at the theatre hall, in the foyer, as well outside, around the building. Laterna magika will present an overall of 16 show in September, among them the legendary Wonderful Circus (September 7 – 11), Rendez-vous (Spetember 14 – 15 and 17 – 18), and Casanova (September 2 – 4). On September 27, New Stage will host an important foreign guest: the choreographer Réka Szabó with her ensemble The Symptoms will present their exceptional piece Nothing there. New Stage September programme includes more than thirty artistic events! more
